Individual Pitch
The Unilever product I chose was Ben and Jerry's, I feel like I could re market this product because it's a product I like and also many people enjoy. However I don't feel that the way it's marketed let's the product be open to as many people as it should do.
As my idea, I thought that I could open this up to families. As you see a lot of Ben and Jerry's in cinemas and family restaurants. I think I could open up the target audience in this way because families are more likely to use this product.
My initial idea was to have a family of four 'the ideal family' to be at a petting zoo/farm of some sort with cows, as this would stick to the iconic value of Ben and Jerry's. The family are just about to stroke the cows; then the farmer sits down in the hot sun, eating cold Ben and Jerry's. The family gets distracted, there's a close up on their faces, with sweat dripping down from their hairline. They finally give in and start eating the Ben and Jerry's, but instead of stroking the cows, they stroke the farmer instead.
I thought this would be a good idea, it gives comedic value to the advert. I didn't know whether to stage the advert with animation or to make it 'real life'. To have the animation in these adverts would be ideal because it relates to the children more and the idea of families, with happy, bright colours and the idea that they all go out as one family to see the cows. Just like the other Ben and Jerry's adverts, I'll put sunglasses on the cows, it gives the idea that Ben and Jerry's are great for summer time and it's 'cool' to eat it.
I'd make this advert a series advert for all the different flavours. I'd make a narrative for all of the flavours and different scenarios they appear in. I think it's better to have an ongoing story in an advert and to make it humorous.
